Manage products, filters, collections, and promotions
Maintain the catalog layers that drive discovery, recommendation, merchandising, and product-specific testing.
Humind separates product records, AI filters, collections, and promotions because each controls a different part of shopping assistance. Products supply facts, filters turn consistent attributes into shopper criteria, collections group products, and promotions provide merchandising context.
This guide explains a source-first maintenance sequence and the available test surfaces. Use it after the commerce connection is stable and whenever product discovery starts producing surprising results.
How this fits into Humind
Catalog data is the factual base for product discovery and recommendation. Integration state, product visibility, metafield filters, collections, promotions, markets, and storefront deployment all influence what a shopper can see and what the Agent can explain.
Verify source data before compensating with Agent guidance. If a price, variant, collection, or attribute is wrong in the catalog, correct or resync that source first, then retest the exact product journey in Humind.
Before you start
Access: Catalog read access is required for review. Catalog write access is required for product visibility, filter, collection, or promotion changes.
- Confirm the active company, Shopify market, and last relevant synchronization.
- Prepare a representative product sample and real shopper questions.
- Identify whether each field is owned by Shopify, Humind, or another approved source.
Step-by-step workflow
Review the product list and detail
Open AI Agent, Catalog, Products. Use search, pagination, sorting, category or collection filters as available, and total or synchronized counts to review the catalog. Open product detail for description, variants, metafields, media, questions, and product Knowledge context.
Product visibility affects customer use. Delete or hide a product only through an approved process and understand whether a future source sync can restore or change it.
Configure useful AI filters
Open Filters. Review Humind's metafield analysis and existing active filters. For each candidate, verify display name, filter type, data type, unit, description, examples, synonyms, buckets, and value coverage.
Activate fields shoppers use consistently. Reject internal identifiers, sparse technical fields, and values with incompatible formats. Saving filter state can trigger materialization before tests reflect the change.
Maintain collections
Open Collections and review groups used for merchandising, discovery, quizzes, or other product experiences. Confirm title, membership, and current source ownership. Use a collection for a coherent group rather than as a replacement for several independent product attributes.
When a collection comes from Shopify, correct membership upstream. When Humind owns it, document the rule and owner so manual membership remains intentional.
Review promotions
Open Promotions and verify that active merchandising information is current, scoped to the right products or collections, and aligned with store terms. Remove expired or conflicting guidance through the supported workflow.
Do not use a promotion to overwrite price or availability facts. The Agent should represent the source catalog and applicable conditions honestly.
Use product and filter tests
Test product opens a product list beside an embedded product test panel. Select a product and ask detail, comparison, variant, availability, and objection questions. The product panel also exposes product-Knowledge work for focused guidance.
The Filters test panel lets you exercise catalog criteria. Finish with Playground to verify the broader journey, including no-result behavior and support escalation when appropriate.
Permissions and important caveats
- Synchronized product facts should be corrected at their authoritative source.
- AI filter suggestions require merchant review and are not automatically safe to activate.
- Filter materialization may not be instantaneous after a save.
- Products, collections, and promotions can differ by market-specific Humind company.
Verify the result
Use this checklist before considering the work complete:
- Representative products have correct visibility, variants, values, and source ownership.
- Active filters use clear shopper language and have consistent catalog coverage.
- Collections and promotions are current for the selected market.
- Product, combined-filter, synonym, unavailable, and no-result tests pass honestly.
Troubleshooting
A product exists but is never recommended
Check visibility, availability, market, collection membership, relevant filters, and the product detail fields. Test it directly before changing general Guidance.
A filter produces noisy results
Inspect value coverage and formatting across products, edit its type, synonyms, units, or buckets, or disable it until the source data is reliable. Retest after materialization.
A promotion conflicts with catalog facts
Keep price, availability, and variants in the authoritative catalog. Correct or remove the conflicting promotion and verify the terms with the merchandising owner.
